MAC Georgia is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Home Accessibility, Adaptation & Technical Feasibility Officer (HATFO) for the UNICEF-funded project "Testing Models of Transportation and Home Adaptation Services for Children and Persons with Disabilities in Selected Municipalities of Georgia."

Background:

MAC Georgia is implementing the UNICEF-funded project "Testing Models of Transportation and Home Adaptation Services for Children and Persons with Disabilities in Selected Municipalities of Georgia." The project is a 12-month proof-of-concept initiative to test and document transportation and home adaptation service models in up to three municipalities in the Adjara region, and to generate practical evidence for future municipal institutionalization and scale-up.

The home adaptation component tests the full service cycle for approximately 10 households of varying complexity, including outreach/application, beneficiary selection, functional and environmental assessment, multidisciplinary review, technical feasibility assessment, procurement/contractor engagement, implementation, quality assurance, handover and post-completion follow-up.

The Home Accessibility, Adaptation & Technical Feasibility Officer provides technical engineering and construction oversight for the home adaptation component, with particular responsibility for technical feasibility assessment, design and bill-of-quantities review, contractor technical oversight, site supervision and compliance verification against Georgia`s National Accessibility Standards. The Preparatory Phase groundwork (beneficiary selection framework, eligibility criteria, cost planning) is carried out by the Senior Disability & Social Services Expert and Senior Occupational Therapist; this role is engaged once contractor engagement and household-level technical work begin.

Purpose of the Assignment:

The purpose of the assignment is to ensure that home adaptation works are technically feasible, safely designed, properly costed and implemented in compliance with national accessibility standards and universal design principles, generating credible technical evidence for future municipal institutionalization.

The consultant provides technical engineering input and construction oversight, and will not substitute for the occupational therapy functional assessment work of the Senior Occupational Therapist, Home Adaptation & Transport Lead and the Occupational Therapist - Home Adaptation & Mobility Officer, or the beneficiary-management and municipal engagement leadership of the Senior Disability & Social Services Expert. The consultant`s role is one of technical feasibility, design review, costing and site-level quality assurance.
